Leith Clean-up on Tuesday - council vegetation cutting reveals years of litter accumulations

Last Tuesday 25 volunteer from our Hit Squad, Leithers Against Litter and Changeworks cleaned up Leith AGAIN. This time we amassed a huge haul of litter - 100 KG of rubbish destined for landfill and around 30kg of recyclable litter which we have duly disposed of. The Council had just been along trimming the bushes and vegetation, this revealed years of litter which had become trapped in the shrubs, it took 3/4 people 2 hours to clear these areas alone. The squad also did an amazing job clearing the Buddleia which is growing from all the walls and railing. The most rewarding job was probably clearing around the swans nest site before they take up residency for the spring, using our shiny new 8ft picker. THANK YOU everyone who took part.
