More weird finds on last Sundays clean-ups and once again lots of volunteer action

Our volunteers turned their attentions to Bells Mills Weir and the Belford area on what is always a dramatic clean-up and the 'Geocahers' Cache in Trash Out day was a huge success with lots of volunteers attending and cleaning the tricky Bonnington / Leith end of the river. We also found this gun - which was handed over to the police, thankfully it was an air pistol but still it was rather sinister. Next lot of clean-ups are in Stockbridge and Dean on 14th May

Next Volunteer and Community Task along the river - meadow cutting at Bells Mills on Sunday 20th September

Join us for this annual task of cutting and raking the grass at the meadow area in this natural beauty spot.  Dress warmly; bring a packed lunch, water proofs and drinking water.  We’ll bring hot flasks and most of the equipment, although Please bring a wheelbarrow if possible.   Meet at the top of the access path to the river on Wester Coates Gardens.  Free parking on a Sunday.  Streetmap Link Below. This is a community event to please share with your friends.

Thanks to funding from CSV Action Earth we will have a strimmer along with the usual hand tool cutting fun!!

Busy volunteers week as we clean-up the Gorgie Road area and place 24 bird boxes

Our Volunteers have been out and about on the river last week. We had a fun task last Thursday placing 24 bird boxes around the Slateford / Longtone area and up in The Dells. Fingers crossed they will make a nice home for our feathered friends. Our thanks goes to Craig and the team at Saughton Prison for making up the boxes.

We also had a busy clean-up on Sunday, over 20 volunteers braved the sleet to clear up the river around Gorgie Road and to clear of the over grown path which goes towards Saughton Park...we hope you can see the difference.

The next volunteer task is not for a couple of weeks but should be a good one as we head up Poets Glen for our annual path work and laurel bashing session. Date: Sunday 3rd March Time: 10am

Volunteers do an awesome job during Sundays clean-up, 3 enormous piles of rubbish collected!

35 Volunteers braved freezing conditions to remove 3 huge piles of rubbish from the river including; a bath tub, toilet, carpets, wardrobe, buggy, suitcases, a mattress, futon.....just going to prove that you could furnish a house, if you were not fussy, with what we pull from the river. Come on Leithers respect your river and environment...STOP DUMPING!!! Many thanks to all who took part.
