At the Water of Leith Conservation Trust, we’ve run an outdoor learning programme for 20 years. We know that getting outdoors offers great opportunities to learn about not only the natural world but also to create amazing works of art, conduct experiments, and learn team-building skills. All our programmes are closely linked to the experiences and outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence, from health and wellbeing, to sciences, technology, social studies and expressive arts.

During the Covid 19 pandemic, we’re sadly unable to offer our programmes to schools. However, to support home learning, we’re offering online learning resources from our flagship programmes. All these activities use materials you may well have at home. Some, like river dipping, may have to wait until restrictions on outside activities relax a little, but our three-stage survival challenge can be done right from your garden or green.

As the weather gets warmer and the days longer, we hope you enjoy getting outside and learning from the world beyond your doorstep.
