Work due to start soon at Black Springs and Easter Bavelaw Reservoirs

Update from City of Edinburgh Council Engineers

During recent inspections at these reservoirs some defects have been identified on the dams at each, and in the interest of safety remedial works have been deemed necessary.

To enable the repairs it will be necessary to lower the water levels at Black Springs, Easter Bavelaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs. This will include a full closure of the causeway at Black Springs for part of this period and potentially short delays on the Easter Bavelaw causeway although access will be maintained throughout the works. There will be a Contractor situated in the area for several weeks during this period and we would ask that people are mindful of construction traffic during this period.

It is proposed that the works will be carried out between 22nd February 2021 and 9th April 2021, with water levels being allowed to fill again as soon as is possible during the repairs period in advance of the fishing season.
