“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one”

As a result of covid it’s been a very different experience for our project officer Johnny over the past 18 months in comparison to previous holders of the role. However, one consistent throughout his time with has been the Trust’s goal of developing well rounded staff that have the necessary knowledge to lead tasks and deal with a variety of challenges that occur in and around the river.
To date Johnny has been trained up on Scything, Emergency First Aid and Safe Use of Pesticides next to water and sporting his brand new high viz braces he found himself in a tree plantation in the Pentlands completing his City and Guilds chainsaw assessment this week. Through this qualification it will allow us to deal with fallen trees on the walkway and remove larger driftwood at Bell’s weir to show off this historical feature.
