One of our lesser known volunteer teams is the Survey Team – a botanically minded crew who help to monitor the success of work to improve biodiversity and focus on looking at what species return after we have eradicated the Giant Hogweed. Usually found sitting amongst the plants with a hand lens and id book in hand recently they have found some lovely plant species including Common Spotted and Northern Marsh Orchids thriving in an area once dominated by Giant Hogweed
Recently trained in how to identify mosses and liverworts our overall list of species found on the river is growing by the week.
