Walkway resurfacing update

Unfortunately there has been some issues with the new path surface which has be laid from Lanark Road to Colinton Tunnel. It has not bound as expected, resulting in the surface being particularly loose, leading to difficulties for cyclists, pushchairs and wheelchairs. The project managers EGLT are aware of these issues and are investigating the cause and potential solutions are due to implemented as soon as practically feasible. A partial closure of this section to cyclist and wheels is in place. We appreciate the inconvenience however, the council are asking that the public do not put themselves at risk and use an alternative route until the situation is resolved.

We also have advanced notice of closure of the Water of Leith Walkway/National Cycle Network between West Mill Road and Spylaw Car Park from: Monday 1st until Wednesday 10th August

Works include the installation of ducting (which will allow lighting to be installed at a later date). And path resurfacing to provide an improved surface. The surface material requires a week to set before we can allow access across it. We have been assured that a local diversion will be in place.

At the moment we are not sure when the works will continue upstream of Juniper Green, but will keep you posted. For more information please contact [email protected] or [email protected]
