Sunday 1st was not exactly sunshine on Leith for our much anticipated funday but that did not stop many hundreds of people enjoying the afternoon of stalls, activities and entertainment.
The dedicated bike area was a big hit – especially the cargo bike rides and the slow bike race, we also had stalls by Spokes and active travel information. Edinburgh Wheels also brought some wheeled fun with a small ramp and skateboards for people to try. The Multicultural Family base whose centre is right by the park also had a stall and some lovely henna tattoos were created.
We had music with Gary and James both doing an acoustic bridge busk and Frankie Lily entertained the crowd with her beautiful voice – the silent disco was also so much fun.
Fundraising stalls raised over £1000 and included face painting, hook a duck, bottle tombola and a plant sale.
The children’s activities also proved popular and included a treasure hunt, bug hunting, street sketching, and an activity table.
Finally we had the Pooch Pageant – which was a hoot even though we did not have a huge number of entrants those who did take part put on a good show and won some top prizes.
So many people and local groups / companies donated prize and volunteers gave up there Sunday to help out – thank you.
