After the formal business of the AGM our Special Guest Speaker will be: Rebecca Barr – Director, Project L-and Community Enterprise.
“Farming Together for Nature in the Pentland Hills”. A story of how local farmers joined forces to form a nature focused cluster: sharing aims, exploring projects, and tackling challenges to farm with wildlife in mind. Find out more about how neighbouring farms in the Pentlands are working together across fence lines to deliver landscape-scale benefits for wildlife, farming, and the wider community.

Crossing the Water of Leith: Bridges through time

Many of us enjoy walking beside the Water of Leith, following its riverside path, but how often do we stop to notice the bridges we cross, the ones carrying roads over the river, or even those that seem to lead nowhere? In early 2023, ecologist Lynda Hepburn explored the length of the river with a friend trained as an engineer, discovering a fascinating array of structures that span the water and uncovering some of the Water of Leith’s rich and often overlooked history. Join Lynda on this illustrated journey from Leith to the river’s source and discover the stories behind its bridges—you’ll never look at the Water of Leith in quite the same way again

Summer’s End

As summer fades and the nights draw in, join us for an evening inspired by the ancient traditions of Samhainn – a time when the boundary between the everyday world and the otherworld was said to become a little thinner.

We’ll head from the Visitor Centre into the woods and along the river, with stories, traditions and a few surprises along the way.

Expect lanterns, folklore, fire, the river, a little guising – and some encounters with the unexpected.

We’ll finish back at the Centre with something warm and harvest-inspired.
