Enthral people of all ages by booking a group visit to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre.

Together we shall explore the fantastic interactive exhibition on the Water of Leith, its history and wildlife. Experience a guided walk, illustrated talk or hands-on activity to really discover Edinburgh’s hidden natural asset. We have a programme available seven days a week to suit any age or ability.

Hands On Fun2 hour sessions for Children

Have a go at our ‘hands on’ activities, each choice includes environmental games, trails and mini art workshops.

  • River Dipping (subject to water levels)

  • Minibeast Safari 
  • Wilderness Survival Skills


Visits can be tailored to your group’s area of study or interest and we have programmes to suit all stages of Scouting and Guiding, from Beavers and Rainbow through to Explorers.

Guided Walks2 hour sessions for Adults

Let our experts take you on a walk along the Water of Leith to explore the history and wildlife of Colinton Dell or experience the Slateford Saunter, which includes a section of the union canal.

Cost£7 per participant

Illustrated Talks2 hour sessions for Adults

If a guided walk is not suitable then our illustrated talks programme takes place in our Yellow Room.

Subjects include:

  • The Water of Leith and work of the Trust.
  • The Flora and Fauna of the Water of Leith
  • Our Milling Heritage
