Nursery

Available All Year Round

We offer a one-and-a-half hour interactive visit to the Centre and riverside, to experience the nature and wildlife of this special place. Topics are seasonally adapted and nurseries can choose from the following topics:  Weather and Water , Woodlands , Plants and Animals on the Water of Leith and Looking after Our World (litter and recycling).

Nurseries can use the classroom for a snack break and/or lunch during the visit.

From November to April, we also offer our Winter Outreach Programme for Nursery. This includes a classroom visit, at your school, with presentation and interactive activities showcasing the plants and animals of the Water of Leith, or for a longer session, a walk to explore the river near your school. These are a wonderful way to continue to engage young learners with nature through winter, when it can be a bit tougher to get outside.

All our programmes are tailored to meet the curricular outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence.
