The old railway tunnel, linking Colinton Village to Craiglockhart Dell, has been transformed into an enchanting walk-through by the installation of Scotland’s largest historical mural.
The art team was led by Chris Rutterford and was commissioned by The Colinton Tunnel, a charity organisation set up to support local arts, heritage, citizenship and community development, centred on the Colinton Tunnel and the former Balerno branch railway line.
The Water of Leith Conservation Trust works to conserve and enhance the river, its heritage and wildlife: The Trust promotes education and recreation through the Visitor Centre, and works with volunteers and community groups to deliver around 240 river clean-ups and habitat improvement tasks annually.
