We offer engaging outdoor educational programmes for school groups, tailored to meet the Experiences and Outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence. We have programmes for Nursery Groups, Primary Schools and Secondary Schools. We also offer a winter outreach programme and a JASS workshop. All of our programmes can be tailored to meet the needs of Special Needs classes.
Our programmes, which are located at The Water of Leith Visitor Centre, 24 Lanark Road, Edinburgh, provide experiential learning opportunities in our fully resourced classroom, our popular interactive river exhibition and, most importantly, on the banks of the Water of Leith.
The programmes are supported by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Children and Families Department.
You will find more info on individual areas of our educational programmes along with helpful downloads using the ‘more info‘ links below.
Our programmes have been modified to reduce Covid-19 transmission and we will deliver them 100% outside, except for toileting and lunch storage. Our programme length will be shorter, 9.30am to 12.45pm for most programmes, but your class is welcome to stay on and eat lunch in our large courtyard or we can put up a shelter in the Dells for a woodland picnic.
We believe that outdoor learning is a great way for classes to learn while minimizing the risk of Covid transmission. We look forward to welcoming your class to the Centre for engaged, active, but safe learning.
