The 21 quilted squares depict the river, it’s wildlife and history as it flows from Balerno to Leith. Almost everything you could think of is shown from our resident otters and other wildlife, local landmarks, the river’s milling history, right down to the industrial past of the docks in Leith. Many group members chose sections of the river that had personal meaning to themselves and their stories and descriptions of their pieces will be displayed alongside the quilt work.
The quilted river will be on display at the Centre from March 30th until at least the 15th April excluding Sat 6th and Thurs 11th. No need to book, just pop in.
The Water of Leith Conservation Trust works to conserve and enhance the river, its heritage and wildlife: The Trust promotes education and recreation through the Visitor Centre, and works with volunteers and community groups to deliver around 240 river clean-ups and habitat improvement tasks annually.
