Sites along the Water of Leith also regularly feature in artworks by exceptionally talented local artists, a few of which we have featured in our Blog.
There are also a great many places within easy reach of the river walkway, including Saughton Park (with its Gardens, Cafe – The Garden Bistro – and Play-park), Gallery of Modern Art, Dean Gallery and the Royal Botanic Gardens to name but a few… and let’s not forget The Water of Leith Visitor Centre (with cafe and interactive exhibition space).
The old railway tunnel, linking Colinton Village to Colinton Dell, has been transformed into an enchanting walk-through by the installation of Scotland’s largest historical mural.

The Water of Leith Conservation Trust works to conserve and enhance the river, its heritage and wildlife: The Trust promotes education and recreation through the Visitor Centre, and works with volunteers and community groups to deliver around 240 river clean-ups and habitat improvement tasks annually.
