Art & Attractions on the Water of Leith

The river is home to some amazing works of art such as The Colinton Tunnel and 6 Times by Anthony Gormley

Sites along the Water of Leith also regularly feature in artworks by exceptionally talented local artists, a few of which we have featured in our Blog.

There are also a great many places within easy reach of the river walkway, including Saughton Park (with its Gardens, Cafe – The Garden Bistro – and Play-park), Gallery of Modern Art, Dean Gallery and the Royal Botanic Gardens to name but a few…  and let’s not forget The Water of Leith Visitor Centre (with cafe and interactive exhibition space).

The old railway tunnel, linking Colinton Village to Colinton Dell, has been transformed into an enchanting walk-through by the installation of Scotland’s largest historical mural.

Turner Prize-winning artist Antony Gormley’s much-loved series of standing figures (6 TIMES) watch over the river as it winds its way through Dean Village and down to the sea.
