Two weeks ago our Conservation Officer Charlotte completed her ‘Introduction to Electrofishing’ training near Inverness run by the Ness District Salmon Fishery Board, and she is already putting her skills to good use.
This week she has been working alongside staff from Forth Rivers Trust to carry out a fish survey of the river. Last done 10 years ago we are looking forward to seeing how the fish population is faring especially after the completion of the flood defense works, the policy change to no longer stock the river with trout for recreational fishing and a thriving otter population. We will not know the results for a few weeks but so far the team has found: Brown Trout of all sizes, Lamprey, Stone Loach, Eels, Bullheads, Minnows and Sticklebacks
