Funding will coming from:

The Place Based Initiative Fund – from City of Edinburgh Council allocated from Scottish Government Funds

Paths for All – Ian Findlay Fund

Landfill Tax Credits via EB Scotland

Various local funds including The Leith Community Fund.

The improvements to Coalie Park which have planning permission can be seen on our Coalie Park web page and form a part of a project to upgrade the entire park area. This sub-project has been designed to improve the accessibility of the existing paths, create a more attractive, safer environment for users and improvement biodiversity. Furthermore, the improvement aims to promote active travel in the area for leisure and everyday journeys.

The Biomatrix Platforms will be NEW habitat created in the water. This was top of the wish list during the community engagement phase back in 2021 so we are delighted to be able to deliver this improvement first – for more information visit https://www.biomatrixwater.com/

And to see a similar project is scale to ours – here is one being installed in Nottingham.

These are the locations planned for the two platforms – we hope the water birds will love them and the wetland wildflowers will flourish. They should also help to clean the water and provide safe habitat below the water for fish
