This June saw another long standing member of staff leave the Trust – Sandie Boyle as been our Visitor Centre and Admin Officer for over 16 years. There has been so many changes in that time, so many valued volunteers and so so many cups of tea and coffee!

We thank you Sandie for everything she has done for us – from specialist knowledge on guided walks, to keeping our bookings, membership, invoices, cafe stock, shop stock all in order and so much more! She will leave behind many happy memories; fun times, strange events and stranger dressing up…….!

We hope she is excited about the next chapter of her life, and looking forward to the opportunities which will arise.

In July Gillian will join our new look Visitor Centre team – working Thurs, Friday and Saturday, with Kat now working Monday to Thursday. This from Gillian “I’m delighted to have joined Water of Leith Conservation Trust recently, as one of the Visitor Centre Officers. Previous to this I was with a charity in Glasgow working alongside asylum seekers/New Scots, which provided housing rights information, wellbeing activities and English language classes among many other things. I look forward to being part of the team supporting all visitors and residents, including New Scots, to enjoy the river and all its history, nature and beauty. The Water of Leith is one of my favourite places in Edinburgh and sharing it with others is a pleasure! My passions are the environment and human rights. I love my allotment, growing some of my own food, and also help run a local group in Edinburgh loaning out electric cargo bikes to the community and supporting people to reduce their heating footprint”
