Ian, Professor Emeritus (Microbial Infection and Immunity) at the University of Edinburgh Medical School is a keen birder and wildlife photographer. He is a long-standing member of the Scottish Raptor Study Group (SRSG) Lothian and Borders branch. He will talk to us about local bird of prey populations, concentrating on Merlins in the Lammermuir Hills, recent studies on Hen Harriers in the Tweedsmuir Hills, and the ongoing debate on intensely managed grouse moors and raptor persecution
