Goosanders and Dippers but have you seen the Kingfisher lately?

Up and down the river we are getting good sightings of Goosanders and Dippers, feeding successfully and entertaining visitor with their fishing skills. But we have not had one kingfisher sighting in the last 2 months. If you spot this beautiful bird do let us know as we are keen to find out where they are. Hotspots are usually Warriston/Canonmills and Slateford/Colinton.

Hello!

I regularly patrol the Stockbridge/Dean/Roseburn/Murrayfiled section of the water of Leith with my camera, ever hopeful of getting the perfect kingfisher shot or possibly a sighting of the Otter of Leith!! I have had regular sightings of Kingfisher from as far down as Leith all the way up to Murrayfield in the last couple of months. I had an amazing day on Monday 9th November when I had 4 sightings of Kingfisher, possibly the same on or maybe 2 individuals. Recent hotspots at the moment, Murrayfield playing fields and opposite B&Q just past canonmills.

Regards,

Gavin

2 kingfisher sightings on a patrol today (1st Dec).

One flying upstream towards Belford Bridge and the other perched for some time below Redbraes Weir.

We saw a Kingfisher around 2pm today (6th December) between Dean Village and the Travelodge hotel. We also saw two Heron's and a number of Goosanders. We had a lovely walk between Stockbridge and Roseburn.

A few days ago I saw the first Kingfisher I've seen for at least a year, in Criaglockhart dell, flying upstream towards Bogs Bridge. Was also checking for otter spraints but haven't seen a fresh one in this part of the river for some time.

Have spotted a male kingfisher 3 times over the last couple of days flying past B and Q at Warriston , heading both up and down stream.
