News on the progress to resolving the path and bridge closures in Colinton and Craiglockhart Dells

Lasted update from City of Edinburgh Councils Natural Heritage Team in relation to the closures within Colinton and Craiglockhart Dell. They understand the continued frustration within the local communities and pleased to inform everyone that they are making progress with the potential re-opening of some of these routes. Specifically;

Redhall Weir bridge – The design has been approved for a replacement bridge over the River at Redhall Weir. This is currently out for tender with quotations due back early January, we are hopeful this work will then progress promptly resulting in the new bridge being open April/May 2023.

Katesmill “pipeline” bridge – The design has been approved for a replacement bridge over the Pipeline downstream of Katesmill Cottage. This will move to tender before Christmas and quotations are due back toward the end of January. It is hoped this work will similarly progress promptly resulting in the new bridge being open April/May 2023.

Bogs Bridge – The path stabilisation works, between Bogs Bridge and the Pipeline Bridge, have been approved and works will be carried out in the new year with a view to having these completed April/May 2023.

Footbridge near Redhall Walled Garden – In October/November, repair works have been carried out to enable to re-opening of the footbridge near Redhall walled garden.
